Hey everyone!
So yeah, I’ve been reading a bunch of interesting poker-related blogs recently, so I thought I’d go ahead and start my own. I guess I’ll start with my poker background. My roommate taught me the rules to NLHE this past December. We played a bunch of heads-up matches (not for real money, but we do have a nice chip set) and I got completely owned. I’m absurdly competitive so I immediately got obsessed with the game, and I’ve been thinking about it pretty much nonstop ever since.
I deposited $250 on FTP in mid January and started off playing 10NL and the occasional micro-stakes SNG. I realized pretty quickly that I freaking hate SNGs, so I’ve played cash games pretty much exclusively for most of my poker career. I bought a bunch of books and joined CardRunners, which has been a huge factor in my development so far.
I started off running pretty hot, and got my BR up to about $1k. I thought I was hot shit, but pretty soon I stopped running so well and managed to tilt most of my roll away playing 50NL. Bleh, I was back to square one. At the beginning of April I had less than $300 in my account.
Since then I’ve been making a real effort to play well, and it seems to be paying off. I’ve been posting more on 2p2, watching videos on CR and I think I’ve more or less eliminated tilt from my game. My roll is now about $3k and I’ve just started playing 100NL. The limit so far seems very soft, so I’m hoping to start taking shots at 200NL within a couple weeks.
As for the next couple months… who knows. I’m pretty confident I can be really good at this game – I’m smart, analytical, and I can work incredibly hard when I want to. So yeah, wish me luck!
